THE CORPS PLANNING PROCESS: Making Good Decisions

The six steps in the corps' planning process are:

Problems and Opportunities Formulate Plans Compare Plans
Inventory and Forecast Evaluate Effects Make a Recommendation

This process follows a problem solving methodology based on sound decision making principles that culminates in a decision document.  There are numerous laws, policies, regulations and guidance about every aspect of the corps planning process.  And each study is unique where the application of these rules are done on a case-by-case basis.  Today's planning environment is very complicated and following these six iterative steps--essential to any good decision process--will yield successful decision documents.
