South Pacific Division Aligns Implementation Plan

Senior Leaders from around the South Pacific Division met in Albuquerque in January to align Implementation and Operations plans.

The three-day conference included break-out sessions for key leaders under each IPlan action from each of the districts. The Iplan is a set of regional tasks and actions from the division. The districts operations plans are sets of tasks which fall under the Iplan actions. All of these tasks and actions align under the umbrella of the USACE Campaign Plan.

Understanding the Campaign Plan, Implementation Plan, Operations Plans and where employees fit in was a key theme emphasized during the conference.

“Our district’s OPlan tasks, align with regional IPlan tasks and actions, which align with Campaign Plan Goals and Objectives,” said COL (P) Rock Donahue, South Pacific Division Commander. “Everyone has a part in making our organization go from ‘Good to Great’ and it is important that each employee understands how they fall under a particular goal, action, and task.”

Once each action and task was agreed upon from the district to the division level, the plans became aligned.

COL Dombi, South Pacific Division Deputy Commander, emphasized the need for districts to work together on a regional plan and to educate their employees on how they contribute to the IPlan.

“It is important to share with your districts what we have learned at this conference,” she said.

The conference also provided an opportunity for SPD employees to learn about the planning process and to hear from experts on leadership. Lee Cockerell, author of Creating Magic, shared thoughts on how each member of our organization can develop themselves and our division.

“We all must understand and share the same vision from the top of the organization down. Once we can do that, our organization can make magic.”
