SAN PEDRO, Calif. – George Jozens, (right) deputy chief of public affairs for the Corps’ Los Angeles District, assists as Jim Fields, (center) the Corps’ project manager for the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, explains the history and current status of the ports’ breakwaters during a Dec. 4 interview conducted at Lookout Point by students from Long Beach Poly High School. The StudentCam interview will be submitted to C-SPAN's annual national video documentary competition that encourages students to think critically about issues that affect their communities and the nation. The students’ interest focused on the pros and cons of the ports’ breakwaters, and sought to answer questions such as “What are the pros and cons of the breakwater economically and environmentally?” and “Are there, or have there been, alternate options to the breakwater that have been considered?”
