Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M. – A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the AFRL Space Warfighting Operations Research & Development Laboratory (SWORD) was held May 20, 2021, on Kirtland Air Force Base.
Research which will be conducted in this building is crucial for enabling and assuring future space capabilities.
This facility replaces six older building that are spread out across the Phillips Research Site. The building includes a 5,000 square foot, high-bay laboratory, as well as an additional 5,000 square feet of secure office, laboratory, and meeting space. The project cost was $12.8 million.
