    USACE seeks public comment on Pajaro River environmental document

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers San Francisco District (USACE) has achieved another key milestone in its efforts to advance construction on the Pajaro River Flood Risk Management Project. USACE conducted an environmental analysis in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, as amended (NEPA). The Supplemental Environmental Assessment (EA) dated April 2024 for the Pajaro River at Watsonville, California, Reach 6 Flood Risk Management Project addresses design refinements for the authorized flood risk management project along Corralitos Creek in the City of Watsonville. Reach 6 remains on schedule to start construction later this year.

    Bay Model set to reopen March 5

    The Bay Model Visitor Center (BMVC) plans to reopen to the public this Friday. The facility, which is owned and operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers San Francisco District, has been closed since March 17, 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

    FIRO HELPS EXTENDS REC SEASON AT LAKE MENDOCINO, SOUTH BOAT RAMP UPDATE

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will close access to the South Boat Ramp at Lake Mendocino effective Tuesday, Aug. 18, 9 a.m., due to low water levels. The lake’s other access point, the North Boat Ramp, has previously closed due to the same reason, and Mussel Dogs are no longer conducting inspections there. The two ramp areas, though, will remain open for day use and small non-motorized boating access to the lake.
