ASA(CW) Darcy visits district
The Honourable Jo-Ellen Darcy, Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works, met with Friends of the Los Angeles River (FOLAR) at the Frog Spot Cafe Sep 10th to hear their vision for bringing the River back to life. South Pacific Division Commander BG Mark Toy and Los Angeles District staff joined Ms. Darcy on her visit. The Frog Spot is a cafe FOLAR opened this summer as a place to gather along the river. It's already attracted more than 5,500 visitors along with the River Rover educational van, FOLAR members explained. They introduced her to the FOLAR Red Legged Frog, the river's endangered mascot. LA 13th District Councilman Mitch Ferrell joined City Engineer Gary Lee Moore, Public Works Commissioner Barbara Romera, and Lewis McAdams FOLAR President on the tour.
