    USACE announces high-flow release at Coyote Valley Dam

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers San Francisco District (USACE) will begin a series of high-flow releases from Coyote Valley Dam at Lake Mendocino starting mid-day on Monday, Jan. 16, in response to reservoir levels and improving downstream conditions on the Russian River. No increased releases will occur at Warm Springs Dam at Lake Sonoma during this time.

    A new report evaluating a pilot program to use advanced weather and streamflow forecasts to enhance water storage capabilities at a Riverside County, California, dam found that enough water could be conserved to supply an additional 60,000 people per year.
  • FIRO HELPS EXTENDS REC SEASON AT LAKE MENDOCINO, SOUTH BOAT RAMP UPDATE

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will close access to the South Boat Ramp at Lake Mendocino effective Tuesday, Aug. 18, 9 a.m., due to low water levels. The lake’s other access point, the North Boat Ramp, has previously closed due to the same reason, and Mussel Dogs are no longer conducting inspections there. The two ramp areas, though, will remain open for day use and small non-motorized boating access to the lake.
