USACE’s Albuquerque District signs design agreement for Middle Rio Grande flood protection project
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-Albuquerque District signed a design agreement for a flood control project with the Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District, June 13, 2023. The agreement allows USACE to begin Pre-construction Engineering and Design of the Middle Rio Grande, Bernalillo to Belen project, which is intended to reduce flood risk along the Rio Grande.

Sacramento District projects receive ASCE awards
Two Sacramento area projects were recognized for their excellence during an awards dinner as part of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Region 9 and San Francisco Section’s annual infrastructure symposium April 22 in San Francisco. The Sacramento District took home two prizes amongst 21 categories of California projects including 2021 ASCE Region 9 Project of the Year and Flood Management Project of the Year.

USACE awards $10.8 million contract to complete Hamilton City levee improvements
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District awarded a $10.8 million construction contract to James Fisher Jr. Excavating of Willows on May 14 to complete levee improvements in Hamilton City.

USACE Publishes Policy Update for Inundation Maps and the National Inventory of Dams
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers published Engineer Circular 1110-2-6075, “Inundation Maps and Emergency Action Plans and Incident Management for Dams and Levee Systems,” in October. This update allows for the use and public dissemination of inundation maps in emergency action plans (EAP) and the National Inventory of Dams (NID), It also provides the dam safety community access to critical information about residual flood risks from USACE dams and levees.
