U.S. Army Corps of Engineers South Pacific Border District and U.S. Customs and Border Protection conduct final inspections to ensure incomplete construction sites are secured and made safe at the Tucson 3 former barrier construction project near Naco, Arizona, Oct. 14. The District began safety work mid-July on former wall construction sites in the U.S. Border Patrol’s Tucson sector. This work did not involve expanding the border barrier, but specific activities included filling open trenches, cutting and capping conduits, making gate foundations safe, making maintenance roads safe, and grading around handholds and manholes.
