    Los Angeles District reassures commitment to public, takes measures to protect workforce

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District is taking precautionary measures to protect its workforce, while also remaining committed to the communities it serves during the COVID-19 public health emergency.

    Tambour Eller on site at Mosul Dam in Iraq. Eller served as the project executive for the Mosul Dam Task Force and was recognized as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Employee of the Year for her work on the task force as well as work with USACE's Sacramento District and South Atlantic Division. Eller stated that her time on the task force was a wonderful experience and encouraged other USACE civilians to volunteer for deployment opportunities.

    USACE Employee Awarded Top Honors for Three Separate Assignments

    Tambour Eller, currently serving as the project executive on the Mosul Dam Task Force during its final close out, was recently named the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Civilian of the Year. Eller received the award for her combined work in three jobs over the course of the awards period.

    USACE Deputy Commanding General for Civil and Emergency Operations Maj. Gen. Scott Spellmon inducted South Pacific Division Regional Business Director John Moreno into the Senior Executive Service at a ceremony in the Los Angeles District Jan. 10. Moreno’s wife Joann, grandson Edward Lopez, and nephew Jonathan Ochoa participated in the presentation of the induction pin, reciting of the oath of office, and uncasing and unfurling of the flag of the Senior Executive Service. Moreno has more than 26 years of experience with the Corps and now provides executive leadership and direction for the South Pacific Division and its four subordinate Districts in operating as a Regional Business Center.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers inducted South Pacific Division Regional Business Director John Moreno into the Senior Executive Service at a Jan. 10 ceremony at the Corps' Los Angeles District headquarters.
