More than 175 industry representatives attend USACE-Albuquerque District’s annual Business Opportunities Open House
The Albuquerque District hosted its annual Business Opportunities Open House at the Sid Cutter Pilot’s Pavilion at the Balloon Fiesta Park in Albuquerque, N.M., Feb. 25, 2026. This year, more than 175 industry attendees representing approximately 145 companies participated in the networking and learning event.

Eagle surveys held at six USACE-Albuquerque District lakes in January
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers staff at six USACE-Albuquerque District lakes conducted midwinter eagle surveys in January. The surveys took place at Abiquiu, Cochiti, Conchas and Santa Rosa lakes in New Mexico, and Trinidad Lake and John Martin Reservoir in Colorado. A total of 49 bald and golden eagles were spotted this year at the lakes.

Lasting Legacy: A Father and Son’s Role in Building, Maintaining Trinidad Dam
Louie and Rick Torres’s roots run deep in southern Colorado along the Purgatoire River and are intertwined with the history of Trinidad Dam. Louie helped build the dam back in the 1960s and 70s. Louie then worked on the dam's maintenance until his retirement, and his son continues to work at the dam.
