    Nine USACE-Albuquerque District employees receive Steel, Bronze de Fleury Medals

    One of the highest honors awarded in the U.S. Army Engineer Regiment is the de Fleury Medal. The medal honors and recognizes those individuals who have provided significant contributions to Army Engineering. The medal also emphasizes the history, customs, and traditions of the Corps of Engineers community. Recently nine district employees were recognized with a de Fleury Medal.

    Record turnout, eagle sightings during annual eagle surveys at two USACE lakes

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers staff at Abiquiu Lake, N.M., and John Martin Reservoir, Colo., recently held mid-winter bald eagle surveys where volunteers and USACE staff counted eagles to help get information on eagle trends, distribution, and habitat at each lake. A record turnout of approximately 100 volunteers spotted eight eagles during the annual event at Abiquiu Lake. 78 eagles were sighted at the event at John Martin Reservoir.

    Kula wildfire survivor shares debris removal experience

    KULA, Maui, Hawaiʻi, -- After losing everything in the Aug. 8, 2023, Hawaiʻi Wildfire, Thomas Liu decided to rebuild in Maui’s upcountry where he retired in the 2000s. “I want to share my story, so people in the future won't be afraid to look for help from FEMA and the Corps of Engineers,” said Liu.
