    South Pacific Division Commander Promoted to Brigadier General

    SAN FRANCISCO -- Acting Army Chief of Engineers Maj. Gen. Merdith "Bo" Temple promoted South Pacific Division Commander Col. Michael C. Wehr to the rank of Brigadier General Thursday, March 15, 2012 in a ceremony at the San Francisco War Memorial Veterans Building.
  • VISALIA, CALIF., -- Army Corps of Engineers Maj. Gen. Bo Temple hands Valerie McKay, a park ranger with the corps, a book on Thursday at Lake Kaweah. Temple flew from Washington, D.C., in part, to meet McKay, whose late grandfather fought in World War I for the British and participated in the 1914 Christmas Day Truce.

    Just three days before Christmas, U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Bo Temple sent an email to his 37,000 civilians and soldiers with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. In the message, he reminded them of a story from World War I, when British and German soldiers laid their weapons down and came to a truce.

    Los Angeles County Public Works Deputy Director Mark Pestrella, Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky and Los Angeles District Commander Col. Mark Toy ceremonially turn dirt Feb. 22 for the start of the $7 million Tujunga Wash Ecosystem Restoration project that will extend greening along the sides of a 3/4-mile stretch of concrete channel in the San Fernando Valley that carries runoff from Hansen Dam to the Los Angeles River.

    LOS ANGELES--U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District and Los Angeles County officials broke ground Feb. 22 on a project designed to restore degraded habitat in the San Fernando Valley. Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky, Public Works Deputy Director Mark Pestrella and District Commander Col.     LOS ANGELES — U.S. Army Corps of Engineers South Pacific Division Commander Col. Mike Wehr visited the Los Angeles District and conducted a town hall meeting with more than 300 Corps employees at the Sheraton Downtown Jan. 12.
  • SANTA CLARA PUEBLO, N.M., -- Maj. Seth Wacker and Robert Isenberg of the Corps’ South Pacific Division’s 59th Forward Engineering Support Team – Advanced (center), visit a freshwater site at Santa Clara Pueblo and meet with Adrian Garcia, a Santa Clara tribal member.

    District Achieves another First for Tribal Program

    In the first meeting of its kind, Robert Isenberg and Maj. Seth Wacker, members of the South Pacific Division’s 59th Forward Engineering Support Team - Advanced (FEST) joined District Tribal Liaison Ron Kneebone in a visit with representatives of two New Mexico Pueblos Dec. 14 and 15. They met with the Pueblo of Santa Clara and the Pueblo de Cochiti to provide the Native American tribes with critically needed engineering support to address local infrastructure issues and to provide FEST members with real-world training.
